Editorial policy
How we keep our legal information accurate, current, and genuinely useful.
Demand Letter Kit publishes legal information that people rely on to make decisions about money and disputes. We take that responsibility seriously. This policy explains how our content is created and reviewed.
Who writes our content
Our guides, templates, and state pages are written by the Demand Letter Kit editorial team. We are not lawyers. Every factual and legal claim is sourced from primary materials — state statutes, court self-help resources, and official government sites — not from other blogs.
Accuracy & legal review
We want to be transparent: Demand Letter Kit is an independent, self-help tool, and our content is not formal legal advice or a substitute for a lawyer. We do not claim professional review we haven't performed. Instead, accuracy comes from citing primary sources so you can verify every figure yourself, and from correcting reported errors quickly. As the site grows, we intend to add review by qualified, licensed professionals and will say so clearly on any page that has been reviewed.
How we source legal data
Our state pages compile data — security-deposit return deadlines and penalties, small-claims court limits and filing fees, statutes of limitation, and legal interest rates — from each state's statutes and courts. Because these rules change, we treat the figures as general information, cite the governing statute where possible, and review them on a recurring schedule.
How we keep content current
Every guide and state page shows a "last updated" date. We review our highest-traffic and most time-sensitive content (such as statutory deadlines and dollar limits) on a regular cycle and after any significant legal change we become aware of.
Our independence
Demand Letter Kit is free, and our content has no commercial agenda. We tell readers honestly when a do-it-yourself letter is appropriate — and when a dispute is serious or complex enough that they should consult a licensed attorney instead.
Corrections
If you spot an error or want to request a change, email us at guptaaryan583@gmail.com. We investigate reported inaccuracies promptly and update the page (and its "last updated" date) when a correction is made.
Not legal advice
Demand Letter Kit is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Our content is general legal information and our tools are self-help document services. Using Demand Letter Kit does not create an attorney–client relationship. For advice about your specific circumstances, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
